Ranking in Google

Your Google ranking will determine the amount of traffic being driven to your site from the Google search engine. The higher your ranking, the easier it will be for people to discover your website when searching for topics related to your content or products, particularly when using your chosen keywords and keyword phrases.

Search ranking is based on a wide range of factors, including inbound and outbound links, keyword usage, and quality of content.

Link building 

Link building is an essential part of SEO that will determine your Google ranking. Creating and maintaining inbound and outbound links is a job within itself. Outbound links you use need to have a strong domain authority score. You may find yourself spending a lot of time on the process of getting inbound links without a great deal to show for it. This can be frustrating and counterproductive.

The more links you create, depending on the quality, the more links you will get organically. You can create the same content but utilize different keywords and then see which article gets a higher ranking and more traffic. As you develop a better understanding of your audience, you will be equipped to create outbound links that will target your audience. You will also have a better chance of getting valuable inbound links from other sites that have a similar target audience. 

Quality content

Quality content is the third factor that can have a significant influence on your Google ranking. Google has created complex algorithms that determine a website’s ranking. Several years ago, they made “quality of content” an important factor in ranking because they were experiencing too many problems with users not finding the content they needed while searching.

Quality content is also more likely to be shared by people on your website and those on your social media. When people read content that they find valuable, that is, easy to read and informative and/or funny, they will share it. They will also follow pages and sites that consistently provide quality content. The more active your website, the better it will rank on Google. So increased traffic will lead to increased traffic.

It is difficult to determine your chances of ranking in Google because there are so many different factors, and it is often hard to decide what the Google algorithm will choose when going through your content. While there are general rules to follow, and the three SEO aspects above overlap in certain ways, there isn’t a precise or ironclad method.

Don’t get discouraged if getting a higher Google ranking takes time. Not all content becomes viral, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t valuable or that it won’t draw traffic.
